Riane Arvid, a Temporal Enforcer from the twenty third century, gets stuck in the twenty first century with Nick Wyatt when her T-suit is sabotaged. Nick, who has always thought he was more than human but just didn't know how, is part Xeran and part Sela. Riane with her implanted knowledge is able to tell that Nick has no idea he’s part Xeran and therefore one of her biggest enemies.
Nick is the guardian of the T'Lir or the life source of the Sela. The T'Lir is powered by the souls of the dead Sela waiting to be reincarnated. Together not only do Nick and Riane have to find a way to get Riane home but also find a way to protect the life source from The Victor who is god-like and trying to take over. He wants to have the life source, which will give him ultimate power.
I really liked the way the book was written. In the beginning of Riane and Nick's relationship you can tell she doesn't trust him because he is part Xeran but at the same time she gives herself to him fully and wholly without much of a fight. Nick on the other hand has always known he's wanted Riane. Nick was just waiting to see her again after an incident that happened when she was 12 and has no idea Nick played a part in. The trust these two have for one another is what makes the book great. They become one. and they think along the same lines and fight their enemies together with great precision. I couldn't have asked for a better connection between Riane and Nick. I will most definitely read this book again and recommend it to everyone to read at least once because you won't be disappointed!
