Luke Moreno spent the past five years building himself and his reputation back after a betrayal. When he sees the beautiful betrayer, Sofia Mikhelson, at the unveiling of the priceless Gypsy’s Revenge necklace, he knows it’s only trouble. He believes she sold him out five years ago and set him up to take the wrap for stolen jewels, but as head of security at this event, he’ll make sure she doesn’t steal the Gypsy’s Revenge.
Sophia never expected to see her ex-lover, Luke, at the unveiling of the necklace. Once chaos erupts at the ceremony, he captures her and starts pointing blame at her. When she goes with him to show him where the real necklace is and prove her innocence, they end up witnessing a murder and have to go on the run.
Luke continues to wonder at every turn when Sofia will betray him again. She wonders how long she can shield her heart from him. Will they ever learn who to trust?
A fantastic romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat from the first to the last page. The characters are so real and alive that I found myself wishing I could go help them. Luke and Sofia are such broken and bruised people. They epitomize the emotional baggage that most of us carry around. I cheered them on every step of the way as they worked through the betrayals in their pasts to attempt at a future. Both Luke and Sophia hide from love and the emotions that attach us to others. They both believe they need to be alone for life. Watching the sparks fly as they fight to hold onto their beliefs was as fun as fireworks on the Fourth of July.
The romance and the suspense are so masterfully woven together that the reader will be drawn in from the first sentence. Fact-paced and wild, I was never sure who would win. A wonderful read for lovers of romance and suspense.
