It is England 1657, Lord Laith Moreland, 3rd Duke of Crichton, and Lady Cassandra Belstowe are young and in love. But there are those that would wish them ill. A jealous brother and a vengeful witch make a pact to break them up. And, during a fierce storm, tragedy strikes and the lovers are killed.
In present day Seattle, Washington, Cassie Chapman looks across a crowded club and locks eyes was a dark, sexy stranger. Or is he a stranger? The intimate, predatory look he returns to her is one full of hunger and passion and something else. Could it be recognition? But how could he possibly know her? It’s not as if he’s an unforgettable man.
Laith Moreland knows the woman, whose eyes lock with his, is his own Cassandra, reincarnated. Since the witch’s curse that led to him to wander as a ghost since his death in 1657, he has waited and searched forever to find her. This is the woman he plans to love for eternity. They are soul mates. In two days time when the moon is full he and Cassie will be together forever. Nothing will stop him.
However there are others that are determined to keep the star crossed lovers apart. Evil lurks trying to again break the bond between the two lovers. Laith’s jealous brother Jareth, who sold his mortal soul to the witch that cursed his brother in 1657, wants Cassie for his own. Jareth is not human. He is a vampire and he will use any means to defeat his brother and possess Cassie. The fact that he is Laith’s twin is dangerous to them all.
The introduction is powerful and compelling and it drew me instantly to read more. I wanted to know what evil had overtaken the 17th Century Lord Laith and Lady Cassandra. I love the idea of soul mates searching for each other, longing to be together. There is great passion, raw hunger and devastating need in this book. It’s romantic and soulful with an edge of desperation as two lovers long to unite for all time. You just want Laith and Cassie to get together.
I enjoyed all the characters in Hearts Eternal. Laith is a sexy, possessive, arrogant and yet vulnerable ghost who above her desires to be with the only woman he knows he will ever love. Cassie, as you’d imagine, is confused, disbelieving and yet magnetically drawn the man who tells her he is a ghost but also part of her past and most definitely determined to be apart of her future. I also like the evil Jareth, the classic bad guy. You are more than happy to witness his downfall.
If you believe in the idea of finding ‘the one’ despite all odds, I recommend Hearts Eternal to you. You will not be disappointed.
