Rhiannon Sinclair, a witch with weather powers, travels to London to check on her younger sister who is under the care of an aunt. Unfortunately, the aunt dislikes Rhiannon because she is a witch and tries to keep her away from her sister. When Rhiannon is confronted by her aunt, she becomes very upset and travels to a park to vent her anger. When Matthew Halkett, Earl of Blodswell, vampyre and former knight, comes upon a beautiful young woman caught in a vicious storm, he seeks to come to her aid, little knowing that she will turn his world upside down.

With In the Heat of the Bite Ms. Dare continues her highly addictive series with great effect. The characters are brilliant and the plot is intriguing. Let me state up front that Matthew is one of my favorite heroes. Matthew is strong, intelligent, honorable and always tries to do the right thing. However, Matthew's honor isn't a weakness, it is a strength, and he makes a very swoonworthy hero. Rhiannon is a very emotional, yet strong, young lady who is determined to get her man. Secondary characters from previous books and some new characters make an appearance and are vastly entertaining. The next book about Alec can't come out soon enough for me.
