Dear Reader:
I have been - like most of you - enjoying this series for a long time. So, it is amazing to say that this is the last book that will feature these amazing characters. If you remember, some years ago in a small town on the Oregon coast there were, in a first grade classroom, four Linda’s. These four young ladies grew up and formed a club, deciding to go by their middle names: Abby, Janie, Caroline and Marley, so there was no confusion.
This series began when these girls resolved to be best friends forever. That was forty-seven years ago. Eventually, they all left to make their fortunes, find their romances, and achieve their dreams. And, in this, the final book, the four Linda’s learn the wonderful, and humorous, life lesson that even the holidays can’t stop life from coming at them in all directions.
Here’s to Friends takes these women on everything from a New Year’s cruise to a really romantic hometown wedding, with plenty of bumps and bruises in between. As they struggle to reinvent themselves at this time in their lives, the four Linda’s must learn to cope with marital issues, financial problems, remodeling a home, and dealing with a child who is on drugs and trying to come home again. The four must all come to terms with the oddities of life, and they learn - once more - that their friendship is absolute necessity!
As always, this is a heartwarming read with many ups and downs focusing on a variety of issues that plague all families. Looking out for your children, grandchildren, friends, and families are difficult jobs for anyone but, with good friends by your side, you can make it through! And that is the real lesson that Melody Carlson teaches.
Pick this one up, gang. It’s the last, and you will definitely want to know how all the lovely Linda’s ended up.
Until next time,
Amy
