When Lady Callie Whitcomb is desperate to escape the arranged marriage she has been forced into by her cruel step brother, she can think of only one place to go. Callie seeks the protection of the man her late father told her to trust. That man is highlander Colin MacPherson. She rides hell for leather out of her home in search of him and a safe harbor. But what she finds is anything but. The first man she comes across, called Hawke, is not the slightest bit interested in helping a Whitcomb.

The last thing Colin MacPherson, also known as Hawke, needs is the daughter of his late enemy landing on his door step looking for protection. As far as Hawke is concerned all Whitcombs are enemies. He is still burning with hatred and revenge towards Callie’s late father. Hawke has no interest in protecting Callie. Though, he is not above using her to gain revenge, for after all she is just a woman trapped in the schemes of men.

Callie is not stupid. She realizes Hawke dislikes her. But she is not about to be pushed around by any man. She may be considered a chattel in this man’s world but that does not mean she will allow herself to be used as a means to avenge past insult. It is not her fault that there is bad blood between the highland MacPhersons and the English Whitcombs. Callie has no intention of paying for something she did not do. But, in the end, does she have any choice?

When Callie’s intended bridegroom, Simon Huntington, turns up to reclaim his runaway bride, Callie is forced to make some hard choices. Does she risk her life and her heart to be safe? Is there any way out of the drama she is caught up in? Does she want to be joined to the brooding Hawke for life? And what about Hawke? In the beginning it was all just about vengeance against a Whitcomb. But maybe this particular Whitcomb he has in his possession is more than just a pawn to him.

Highland Honor has it all from a mistreated heroine to the evil stepbrother and the avenging highland laird. The theme of this book, to me, is what exactly is honor. Is it just as simple as a name, a physical state, a way of life or the power of love? And what will people do for the sake of honor? There is also the realization that what you believed was the truth may not necessarily be so. Honor is all well and good but maybe, despite differences, love is worth taking a chance on.

Maybe it’s my Scottish heritage or the thing about men with kilts, but I love a good highland romance. Highland Honor abounds with manly men and the strong, confident women. There are lies and mistrust, danger and treason and great romance and passion. I read on to see there is a sequel. I will definitely be requesting to read that one.
