Fifteen year old Scotty Fitzgerald has spent her young life on the road, traveling to movie sets with her mom, Charley. Charley is a food designer who is in charge of placing just the right edible dishes in the movies. (Yes, this is a job). Scotty is wise beyond her years because of her strange existence. Mom is a hippie, fifties chick. Very flighty – off the wall – and doesn’t offer much guidance to her growing daughter. Dad is absent completely.

This novel is really for teenage girls, that touches on issues like boys, first loves, growing up fast, wanting to grow up faster, weight issues, and more, that teenagers face every day.

There are many wonderful characters in this book that you meet up with on the road. Grammie and Grampie were my favorites, an older couple who go from place to place in their RV and truly enjoy life. There are actors and actresses on the movie set that Scotty meets. Seth Haas is the love interest (think undiscovered. McDreamy, Jr.) But, of course, at nineteen he is way too old for Scotty – even though a lovely friendship does develop.

This book is written in journal entries, Hollywood blogs and as a regular story – which keeps it moving along and would hold a teenagers’, let’s face it, barely there book interest. The author has also deftly added a twist of suspense in this teenage "coming-of-age" story, regarding her real father, and a past that she never knew existed, which increases the likeability and fun of the story.

I would recommend this as good reading for teenage girls (teenage boys too, if they want to learn why teenage girls are so "like weird."
