As far as Huntington St. John was concerned, he’d as soon leave "Annie" in the San Cristobal jail. But he needed her, or rather what she had. So like any good T-FLAC operative would, he busted her out. And she thanked him by knocking him out and handcuffing him to a bed.
Taylor Kincaid, aka "Annie" among other aliases, is a jewel thief. She lives for the thrill and challenge stealing under someone’s nose gives her. She must be getting sloppy. Not only was she caught and arrested in San Cristobal, but sexy Hunt St. John has tracked her down, again.
Apparently, she lifted more than jewels; some discs with codes on them, from Morales’ safe and Hunt wants them. Now. If he’s to be believed, two terrorist groups are after them, too.
Both Taylor and Hunt are loners. Their jobs don’t allow for emotional attachments. They need to stay "detached". Yet their attraction to each other is more powerful than either of them. Even with the terrorists breathing down their necks, they can’t resist the pull, as it becomes a race against time and a man’s maniacal mind for Taylor, Hunt, and his T-FLAC team to thwart a religious zealot’s explosive plan. Their plan of action is perilous at best, full of risks and pitfalls, but they have little choice as the enemy works to eliminate them and they work to eliminate the enemy.
Once you think you have enough pieces to assume you know where things are heading, another is dropped out of nowhere, changing the direction this well thought out maze goes in. But was it my imagination, or did Ms. Adair leave a small piece of the puzzle unsolved? Will it be addressed in the next T-FLAC story? Am I right in my assumptions...?
This book would have become a "keeper" for me if not for the overuse of a particular word, which may be offensive to some. There’s no doubt whatsoever the story could have stood up on its own without it.
Hot Ice is an intricate and intense story. It’s an edge of the seat ride with a few hairpin curves. Don’t read too fast or you’ll most assuredly miss something.
