Josie Drummond, a paranormal investigator, has come to Castle Waite
to document the presence of the ghost of Deverill Thornton, the ninth
Earl of Waite. Once the ghost is documented, Ms. Amelia Thornton hopes
to open up the castle to guests, in order to pay for some much needed
repairs. When Dev's ghost appears, he strikes a bargain with Josie to
aid him by traveling to the past and exposing a charlatan psychic, who
fleeced his mother and sent the family finances on a downward spiral.
Unfortunately, they must travel to a time several days before Dev's
death and the human Dev may make an appearance. Will Josie and Dev be
able to save the family's fortune and can Josie stop Dev's duel?
Hundreds of Years to Reform a Rake is a very entertaining regency paranormal romance with great characters, an intriguing plot, and a unique and surprising ending. I loved the way Ms. Brown incorporated historical information into her story in a fun and informative manner. Josie is an independent woman, who doesn't need a hero to save her. In fact, Josie saves herself on more than one occasion. Dev, the live version, is a rake, who doesn't know what's hit him, when he meets forthright Josie. Dev, the ghost, is probably my favorite character. The ghostly Dev has been around for years and sees the error of his ways. However, he still maintains a superior attitude and smart alec remarks. The ending of Hundreds of Years to Reform a Rake is unexpected and adds to my enjoyment of the book. This book will hit the spot for both paranormal and regency fans.
