Sophie Green works at flight check-in for Ace Airlines. She hates her job, has a car called Ted, lusts after Sven her blond co-worker and knows all the Buffy episodes. It seems only logical that she would be asked to be a special agent – a spy. And that’s what happens when she chases a crook and comes to the attention of her Italian co-worker Luca. But is there more to this hot, sexy Italian than meets the eye?

Luke Sharpe is a special agent for Special Operations 17, a highly secretive intelligence unit working out of Stansted Airport tracking down criminal activity. His cover as "Luca" is blown when Sophie comes across him interrogating a suspect. When Sophie single handedly stops a crime, Luke offers her a job with SO17. Sophie – super-spy is born.

But there is more to being a spy than just handcuffs, security passes and stun guns, there is also the fact that due to Sophie stopping a crime she has now become a target. Luke’s chief aim is to find the bad guys and keep Sophie safe. However Sophie is not about to be intimidated by fire bombs, weird mail and spiked drinks. She is in control of her own life and will stumble through to save herself. But is this bigger than either of them realizes? Is someone in SO17 a traitor?

I liked Sophie. I identified with her as a character. She is real and fallible and human. She runs late, she swears, she knows she should lead a better life but then don’t we all? The thing I liked most about Luke is that although he is a special agent, used to dealing with bad guys and intense situations, he is totally out of his depth with Sophie. Their relationship is sexy and funny and I liked that the sexual tension is simmering away without all being revealed. As for the other characters I enjoyed them all – particularly Macbeth. As this is clearly going to be a series, I am keen to read more of this bad boy trying to go straight as a special agent.

If you like the Stephanie Plum series, I believe you will like I, Spy? as it has a similar feel to it. This book is modern, quirky, ironic and sassy. It hooked me in from the start as Sophie was running late for work. There is swearing in the book, however it fits the characters, the genre and UK setting of the book. I don’t believe if read in the context of the book, readers will find in offensive.

I enjoyed I, Spy?. I can easily see how this will spin out into an excellent series.
