This book is the third book Patti Hill has written to illustrate the life of Mibby. Mibby has come back from losing her husband and struggling to re-gain her footing to marry Larry. Now there are numerous issues which hit them as they come home from their honeymoon. First they have differing schedules so time together alone is a luxury. Then, there is the house itself. The house was decorated for Mibby and her first husband so how can it be changed to become Larry and Mibby’s home. Next, Mibby’s son, Ky, isn’t real sure about having another man in the house nor is Larry completely sure how to be a teenager’s dad. Let’s not forget, Connie.

Connie is Larry’s mom. She stayed with Ky while they were on their honeymoon and Mibby came home to discover Connie had "helped" her by reorganizing her entire kitchen. Once they are home, Connie’s daily visits continue with Connie taking over a large amount of the daily running of the household.

Mibby is trying very hard to balance all of these factors and changes and still run her business and take care of her clients. All in all remarriage is an interesting proposition.

I love the way Patti Hill writes. She takes things from daily life that we all take for granted and illustrates them in whole new light, like the Ten Commandments and how they apply to a mother-in-law. The characters have grown through the series of books and each were taken to new depths in this latest epic. The biggest change throughout has been for Mibby. Her strength has blossomed. Yes, she still deals with the daily crisis we all do but she is developing a belief in herself. She can stand alone with God on her side.

Patti Hill demonstrates yet again an incredible ability to mix humor with reality to create a gentle, yet powerful story. The characters are vulnerable as Patti paints the picture of their daily lives and by doing so allows us to see the depth of the emotion they feel. In Every Flower is a great step in the trilogy of books so far but truly is a story onto itself.

Patti has quite a career ahead of her and I know she will stop to smell the flowers along the way and create the portrait she sees for the rest of us to enjoy.
