Hannah Geary has always dreamed of being a woman of action and making a difference for her country. She spent years training in college and with "The Agency". However, just as she is ready to enter the world of intrigue, her parents are killed in a plane crash and her brother needs her to stay around while he finishes his schooling. As her godfather agrees, he gives her a position analyzing data Defense Intelligence Analysis Center, for which he is the director.
After being kidnapped by the faction who killed her cubicle mate though, she realizes that the world of intrigue has come to her and she needs to rely heavily upon the skills she has learned in order to save her life. At the same time, an elite force of SEALs is trying to defend their CO, who has been charged with a crime he didn’t commit. As they begin to unravel the case, the clues intersect with the faction Hannah is dealing with and Lt. Luther Lindstrom leads a mission to rescue Hannah.
As Hannah and Luther work together to find the answers to the questions they both carry it becomes unclear as to who is saving whom. They each help the other deal with the burdens and ghosts they have been carrying including a desire to never fall in love. Can they solve the answers to the crimes which have been committed as well as the questions within their own souls? Can they "save" each other?
Marliss Melton weaves a fantastic story of intrigue, suspense and danger. In the midst of all of the tense moments though, the characters reach out to the heart of the reader with their very human problems and fears. The story line keeps you riveted as they search for the true criminal who has affected all of their lives. This book will keep you guessing with each page turn where the story will go next. For those of you who enjoy military actions, this book is very accurate and will make you feel right at home. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the military, some of the terms may seem a bit overwhelming at first. However, the explanations are informative and create an entire new awe of those who serve for our country.
Well done, Marliss; I look forward to more!
