Genevieve Monaghan is a gifted artist who is about to have her first major show. She is undoubtedly an up-and-coming artist needing a break into the art world. Alex Miller is a millionaire philanthropist looking to commission an artist to create a painting for the new children’s wing of a Boston hospital. He sees Gen’s work and asks her to create the piece he needs for the hospital.

While Gen finds his methods and self-assurance exasperating and annoying, she can’t deny his good looks and the way sex appeal flows off of him. Both of them try to deny the sizzling attraction they feel for each other. They come from two different worlds and just don’t seem to be compatible.

I enjoyed this story very much for it is done in a Cinderella style. Here’s a starving artist who is as far from high culture as a woman can be meeting the good looking millionaire who believes all women are trying to trap him into marriage for his money. They spend their time fighting each other as well as their sexual attraction. Throw in Alex’s matchmaking Great-Aunt Grace and you’ve lit a stick of dynamite.

I loved the book being a novel instead of shortened down. I really enjoyed getting to know the inner workings of the characters minds. Ms. Moore has masterfully crafted a novel that will draw readers in from beginning to end.

Two very minor items had me distracted when I read the book. The first was the names of the secondary characters. There was so much alliteration going on that I found myself confusing Sam and Steve and Sophie and Cassie and Caleb. The other distraction was the threads Ms. Moore left for potential future books. I don’t mind leaving those threads hanging, but in this book, the setup felt stilted and like it was just stuck into the story instead of being woven in the tapestry that becomes the story. Both of these items are minor and really don’t draw from the overall appeal of the book. It is a book that will draw the reader into the scene and have you rooting for Cinderella-Gen to win over Prince Charming Alex.
