Amy Walker is a woman on the run, with a past and on a mission. Can you get more complicated than that? Amy Walker is back in the United States after being rescued by the members of E.D.E.N. Security from a band of terrorists holding her. Now, she is determined to find the man who arranged her kidnapping and the man who terrorized her mother for a lifetime. Amy has brief memories of a soft woman with a gentle smile but that woman has now been replaced by a catatonic shell living in a mental hospital. Jenna, a reporter friend of hers, has discovered the location of the man Amy is looking for so Amy is on her way to Argentina. However, she runs into a problem with a man tries to kill her putting her on the run once again. Amy heads for the only person she knows she can trust.
Dallas hasn’t forgotten the woman who even when kidnapped had spunk. A woman who quickly showed fire in her eyes. A woman who has burned an image on his heart. He needs to take a break from work and get rid of the image he is carrying and get himself back on track. Dallas is gearing up for some time away from his family (all E.D.E.N. Security members) when that same woman collapses on his doorstep, drenched and exhausted. The only words she utters before she falls into his arms are "can’t let them find me here" and those words combined with the image in his heart lead him on a new mission.
Dallas is determined to help Amy in her goal to get to the bottom of what happened to both her and her mother and if that takes them into danger, in Argentina no less, then he will gladly risk his life for hers.
Cindy has done it once again and I know those words sound cliché. However, it is so true. Into the Dark is hot, thrilling, action-packed and yet displays a gentle, touching side at the same time. The characters (both the primary ones and the secondary ones) show high-intensity with the plot taking some interesting twists along the way. The emotions between Amy and Dallas start smoldering from the moment the book begins and fill each page as they begin to know each other better. Granted in the beginning, each of them held some thoughts of the other and let’s admit it but that was totally sexually based. Not a bad thing, mind you. However, as the story progresses, they begin to see other sides of each other and begin to feel new emotions.
I know the book said this concludes the series surrounding the members of E.D.E.N. but I gotta think there is a whole lot more to come from Cindy Gerard. Maybe even involving Jenna???
