Harry & Elizabeth (not their real names) write each of their versions of their reuniting in a he-said/she-said novella. After 24 years of marriage, they were divorced and each remarried another. Through a turn of events, both lost their 2nd spouses to leukemia and got reacquainted at their daughter’s over Christmas in 1993.
Both sides of their story are presented in It Had to be Us. Can they heal enough to become friends again? Will they consider reconciling?
While this is a short book, it packs a punch. First of all, the difference of opinions in the recalling of events is so true of most marriages that it becomes almost comical. Getting inside both Harry & Elizabeth’s mind was so refreshing since you didn’t have to guess what the other one was thinking. They have a unique perspective on marriage and reconciliation. I think that all married people should read their book to learn some things to do as well as avoid.
