Mia is a Keeper as was her mother and grandmother before her. This means that she is very much like a guardian angel to fighters and martial artists of South London. She strengthens her abilities by training in martial arts. Before a fighter goes into the ring, she will meditate and go to her private sanctuary and make special prayers for the fighters she will "step out" for. What she doesnít know is that there is an intruder in her sanctuary.
Adrian Ashton is a brilliant scientist interested in sleep disorders and other ailments that relate to brain waves. He is a skilled martial artist and also a modern-day vampire. He has found a way to stay young forever by draining people of their life energy or chi. He likes targeting martial artists and cage fighters because of the heart they have for the sport. His only concern is in the Keeper. He must get past her in order to drain the fighter of his chi. Will he be able to get past Mia?
It is very rare that a book will leave me speechless after reading it. This was one of those special books. I loved everything about it. I have gotten into cage fighting within the last couple of years and have always loved watching martial artists. I think they are so graceful and the thought behind what they do is so profound. I also loved the spiritual aspects of this book. Mia being a guardian angel to the fighters and helping to protect them is a wonderful way of looking at things. I canít wait to see what Ms. Mostert has in store for her readers next.
