Called home to care for her sick mother, Christy Grey leaves her friends in Last Chance, CA for Tombstone. Christy would just as soon forget her past life of working in a saloon and her mother’s belittling but with her being sick, maybe they can forget the past and renew their relationship.
Nevada King made his living by the gun, but no more. He was tired of that life; he wanted to settle down, have a family and own a ranch. Well, that would have to wait. Nevada just happened upon a camp of outlaws, unbeknownst to him, and they “asked” if he’d like to ride along. Before he knows it they are robbing a stage and shooting at the passengers.
Just her luck, hit by a bullet; it’s just a graze but it’ll need tending. Not one person is in their right mind enough to take care of it, except the one handsome outlaw. Of course, she would never have known that if he hadn’t taken off his mask to tend her. What has Nevada gotten himself in for, they shot at the passengers and a woman has been hurt. He can’t just leave her to bleed to death. Nevada begs Christy’s promise that she not tell a soul who he is, after all, he wasn’t really part of this gang and he never would have robbed the stage if he hadn’t been coerced into riding along.
Christy didn’t really believe the outlaw, but she had given her word. She’d never see him again anyway. But surprises seemed to be around every corner in the rough & tumble town of Tombstone and Nevada seemed to be at those same corners. Christy has never been able to trust men and she’s sure Nevada is no exception; after all, he’s an outlaw, isn’t he? Nevada is holding his breath, waiting for Christy to turn him in. He has to find a way to help her, not because she might turn him in, but it’s this feeling he has.
Christy has never had much use for God, as He hasn’t had much use for her. God turned His back on Nevada long ago allowing his fiancé to die; so Nevada turned his back on Him. God has a way of leading, directing and creating the circumstances to bring about His plan and He has a lot of work to do on these two lost souls. How will God help love find these two precious children of His.
I had the privilege of reviewing LFY in Last Chance, CA. I do enjoy sequels and thought this was a great way to write one though Love Finds You in Tombstone, AZ does stand on its own. Usually in an inspirational story, one or the other main characters know God and typically has a firmer faith than the other. Christy and Nevada’s story stood out to me because neither had a relationship with God. I enjoyed their journey as they discovered that God is real and true to His children.
Ms. Ferrell had a lot of history to work with in Tombstone and her research is proven in this story with many actual characters making an appearance. Tombstone is as wild and as west (almost) as you can get but God can be anywhere as Christy and Nevada prove.
