Laura Genny is finally being given the chance of a lifetime. She has trained as a sound engineer and has only been given small jobs in small theaters. Her friend and once co-student, Ed, has excelled in the sound field. He has decided to start his own recording studio so his job as sound engineer for Tourist is hers if she wants it. Laura hops the next plane with her duffel bag of belongings and arrives to audition for the group. They agree to give her a chance until things start going wrong. Or is it right?
Will Burns is the lead guitarist for the music group. While he stopped the groupie path a long time ago, he is feeling very unsatisfied with his own life until Laura walks in. Here is a woman who knows who she is. She doesn’t feel the need to put on lots of makeup and wear fancy clothes to feel like a woman. However, Will quickly discovers just how wrong he is and how many levels this woman has.
The story weaved by Shannon Greenland has as many levels as the heroine. I enjoyed Shannon’s use of dialogues and flashbacks to get to know the characters involved in the story. The imagery used to twine the main characters lives together was effective and poignant and pulled the reader right along with them. This story also shows the healing that can occur from past abuses through counseling and love. These combine to bring the heroine joy again. Shannon, thank you for sharing the lives of Laura and Will with us, the readers.
