Melanie Middleton sells real estate in Charleston, SC. As one of the top realtors in the area, she knows a lot about homes and is learning the ins and outs of renovation. She is currently renovating the house she has inherited with the help of friends. Things are going great for Melanie until her estranged mother comes back into her life. Her mother wants to buy back the family home and wants Melanie to help her restore it to its former glory.
Melanie has done fine without her mother for thirty years, but with some prodding from her friend Jack, she begins to rebuild their relationship. Both Melanie and her mother have psychic abilities and are able to see and talk to ghosts. They would not be surprised if they uncover some spirits while renovating the house. What they find however is an evil spirit whose strength has been growing for decades and who wants revenge against Melanie’s family.
This is one of the best ghost stories I’ve read in a while. It is a fun, fast-paced mystery with plenty of adventure, love and deep dark family secrets. Ms. White’s characters are well developed and have so much depth to them. This is definitely a wonderful addition to any mystery library.
