The only home Addie Sullivan has ever known is the lighthouse outside Crescent City. Her father, the lightkeeper, had been gone a few years now and Addie had always felt her mother didn’t like her. Addie never could understand why her mother had such hostility toward her until the day a stranger came to their door. Little did Addie know their lives were about to change forever.
Unbeknownst to Addie, she was lost in a shipwreck and presumed dead at the age of 2. Addie was the long-lost heiress of the Eaton’s. Her uncle who came to the lighthouse searching for her thought she should come back to Mercy Falls as the governess to the Eaton grandson – just until they could prove beyond a doubt who Addie really was.
John North, the widowed father of the Eaton grandson had a strong attraction to the new governess. John wanted this to work out not only for him but it appeared she was good for his son. Soon this attraction was two-sided and Addie could no longer keep her identity to herself. It appeared she was in danger and she couldn’t let John or his son come to harm because of her.
Addie’s reliance on God has slightly fallen because her heart’s desire has been to have the love and acceptance of her family. Now she can but at what price? Will Addie be able to once again become the God-fearing woman she was and not be drawn into the trap of being who her family wants her to be? Will John be able to rely on God to help him fight for what he knows is right? How will God help these two deserving souls solve the mystery surrounding them and come together forever?
The Lightkeeper’s Daughter has many aspects. It’s full of mystery, danger and intrigue as well as romance, love and subtle inspiration. Colleen Coble has a way of interspersing her story and characters with just the right amount of these many aspects to keep you engaged from the start.
The Lightkeeper’s Daughter is a "keeper". I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
