Dear Readers,

Jordan McAllister is a reporter on the local paper.

Jordan's dream has always been to be a sportswriter but when she got out of Journalism School, she made the mistake of going to Dallas with her boyfriend where he unceremoniously dumped her. Leaving Dallas, she took a job writing ads for a newspaper in Ranchero, Texas until something turned up that would get her into a big time reporting job.

The paper's food critic is under the weather so, Jordan is asked to cover her beat. Jordan is not a cook and probably wouldn't be able to boil water without burning it and knows nothing at all about food. But, she goes valiantly on to her first assignment which is reviewing a new steak house in town. She goes to the restaurant thinking, this couldn't be too bad. Her waiter suggests that she order the foie gras, even though she doesn't have any idea what it is. Instead of eating it she stuffs it into her bag and ruins the bag which she borrowed from her landlady. The next night the waiter from the restaurant calls her and wants to talk to her about something. He doesn't show up but, the police find him outside her apartment with a note in his pocket with her phone and address on it.

This, of course makes Jordan the main suspect and even though she is a far cry from being a great food critic, she is very smart, tough and a good investigator. This was an enjoyable read with just enough action to keep the reader interested. And as an extra added attraction, recipes in the back of the book. Enjoy!

Mary
