A fascinating read with a heroine, Charlotte Bessette, who is a very appealing amateur detective.
Charlotte Bessette, part owner of Fromagerie Bessette, along with her grandparents and cousin Matthew, are about to have a grand opening to celebrate their newly renovated Cheese and Wine Shop in Providence, Ohio. Charlotte has organized a very pleasing tasting of various cheeses including Cabot Clothbound Cheddar; and many elaborate tortes along with a wine to go with any cheese imaginable. Things are going very well at the opening when there is a crime taking place right outside the front door. Charlotte has just finished getting the shop ready and the guests have arrived and are having a great time eating and drinking when a scream permeates the premises. Right outside the shop Charlotte finds the owner of the building where the shop is located stabbed to death with one of her very distinctive olive-wood handled cheese knives. When the local police chief, who was one of Charlotte's schoolmates, starts to investigate, it seems that Charlotte's grandmother is the main suspect. Of course, the police refuse to look any further and Charlotte decides to investigate herself.
I so enjoyed this book. The characters, Charlotte and her family, along with some delightful villains, especially a group of women including the wife and daughter of the victim and a really handsome man who is a cheese supplier for the shop and is interested in Charlotte romantically. I recommend this book to any mystery reader. The plot is well thought out and is interesting enough to keep you reading until the end. A very entertaining read. So, enjoy and I'll talk to you soon.
