Love's Blessings is the story of a couple’s experiences with Invitro Fertilization treatments and the pressure it puts on their marriage.
Janelle and Kevin have gone through five unsuccessful treatments and each is dealing with the negative results very differently. While Janelle is determined to try one more time, Kevin has had enough. He's emotionally drained and can't stand seeing Janelle’s heart break a little more with each failed procedure. Unfortunately, Janelle doesn’t understand Kevin's motives for wanting to end treatment, and this causes a rift between them that might be beyond repair.
Many believe that God has a plan and that everything happens for a reason, but the reason isn’t always obvious. Kevin is willing to put his faith in God, but Janelle is not so forgiving of God or her husband. She is so caught up in her own sadness that she can’t see how much Kevin is hurting.
I started this book with the intention of reading a few chapters before bed, but I was immediately taken in and ended up reading the whole story in two hours. Any book that has me weepy in the first paragraph is a keeper.
M.G. Braden tells a beautiful story about the power of love and acceptance. I enjoyed it and although there were some things that frustrated me about Janelle and Kevin’s treatment of eachother, I understood their reasons and sympathized with both sides.
There was one situation in the book that felt a bit unnatural to me, and I think it was because the event that caused it was glossed over without enough explanation. However, this was a minor frustration in an overall lovely and heartwarming story that I hope others will get to experience.
