Samantha James is a woman with a mission. She’s bet the future of her advertising company on the city’s losing baseball team. She has to turn their rotten image around and try to sell the team to the city. If she fails, the owner will sell the team and she’ll lose her company.

When she sees Jarrett Corliss for the first time, she’s awestruck by his magnetism and his sex appeal. However, since no scandal can hit the team, he’s definitely a no-no for her. Samantha sees him as the ticket to selling the team to the city. He agrees, on one condition—that Samantha will go out with him. From there, a flurry of activities, dodges and about faces occurs. Will Jarret be able to get the woman he wants more than all else?? Will Samantha be able to keep her company—and forget the man of her dreams?

Jarrett is the All-American boy. He’s a southern gentleman and a hunky pitcher. Everything he does oozes of sex appeal. Samantha is interested, but trying to take the high road for the sake of her employees and her company. As word gets out of their wager, the media has a hay day with them. Will all this public scrutiny be the end of Samantha’s dreams—or the beginning?

I loved Samantha and Jarrett’s story. They are such normal, every day people so it was easy to relate to them and feel like you know them already. Their struggle to balance desire with practicality is funny some of the time, poignant at other times. If you love America, baseball and apple pie, this is a home run book for you.
