What can I tell you?? Jessica Trapp is by far the "Master of Writing". I had the pleasure of reviewing her first book, Master of Pleasure, and now I get to read Master of Desire. What a great life I have! Please note---both books are stand-alone novels. They are not connected to each other. I just compare the writing styles because Iíve read both novels.

Ms. Trapp has done it again. She has written such a compelling story that you just canít put it down. Iím drooping at my keyboard from staying up way too late because I couldnít sleep thinking about the book. I finally had to get up and finish it just to get some sleep.

Let me tell you a little about the book. First, you have Lady Ariana of Rosebriar who is caught up in a terrible situation. She killed her husband in self-defense (not that it matters in 1487 England) and her cousin helped her cover up the murder. Now he is blackmailing her to get torrid information about other nobles or he will see her hanged for murder. He then takes the information she gets for him and blackmails the nobles with it. Sheís known as the "Spy of the Night" and is considered half-truth, half legend.

Gabriel of Whitestone is hunting down the Spy of the Night. Heís loyal to the king and the king wants this spy caught and executed to keep the other nobles safe from blackmail. Currently, the king believes Gabrielís brother Erich is the Spy. Gabriel is determined to find the spy and bring him/her to justice. He believes it is Ariana and he wants her brought to justice so he can claim her lands that formerly belonged to his half-brother. He is known as "The Hunter" and heís another half legend, half-truth character in England.

Gabriel captures Ariana at a chapel and takes off with her headed for London. She fights him every step of the way and he finds himself intrigued with this lady who is so valiant and brave. As he tries to earn her trust, he finds himself in danger of losing his heart as well. Can their budding love survive plots to kill them both?

Iím sure youíll find this book to be on your keeper shelf. I know itís on mine. Ms. Trapp wrote brilliantly in her first novel and this time she has improved. I wasnít sure there was room for improvement, but this story is even more powerful and captivating than the first. I am already waiting anxiously for her next novel to go to print. Grab your copy of Master of Desire before the shelves are cleared. Iím sure this book will be in high demand. Enjoy!
