Hollywood star, Nora Daniels has become comfortable with her life as it is in Montana. Comfortable. She is surrounded by friends, all of whom are willing and eager to help her with the care of her new daughter, Ashley. Nora really has no desire to think about the future. She’s…comfortable with things how they are.
Burke Elliott, an associate producer and friend, arrives and makes Nora’s life anything but comfortable. Not only is he pursuing her for a lead role in a comedy, he inadvertently turns Nora’s world around.
Nora is forced to shove aside her growing attraction to Burke and think, take stock of her life, her future. What does she really want for herself, her baby? Will Burke be a part of her life in only a professional capacity or will he be in it on a more personal level?
Burke on the other hand isn’t interested in babies, he’s not interested in rusticating in Montana, and he’s certainly not interested the operations of the Kelleran family ranch. What he finds he is interested in is Nora. Big time. But she comes with a wide set of complications, which he’s not sure he’s ready to take on.
Terry McLaughlin finishes the Bright Lights, Big Sky series with an emotional wallop. The feelings and actions of Nora and Burke are touching with a sense of realism. Questions are asked that at one time or another we might have asked ourselves.
Maybe, Baby is a sweet story with just the right amount of spice tossed in. It’s always a pleasure to read something from the imagination of Terry McLaughlin.
