Charlie (Charlotte) Mitchell has been sent to her aunt’s house. Her mother fell apart when her divorce was finalized and Charlie was sent to see Aunt Janelle. Charlie has always been able to hear echoes of conversations from the past and Aunt Janelle’s farmhouse is no different. She meets, Harm, a ghost who is trying to connect with his deceased fiancée who can’t see him.
Charlie meets Kyle, the boy from the next farmhouse, and starts to find a little romance of her own. Too bad Kyle doesn’t believe in ghosts and can’t accept Charlie’s story. Will Charlie be able to help Harm? Will Charlie be able to salvage her own love life?
A nice story that takes us through the absolute highs and lows associated with teenagers. I thought it was a unique perspective on ghosts and hearing from the past. It was fascinating to watch Charlie interact and listen to the people and voices from the past. It had a little too much teen angst for me, but I’m an adult and have left adolescence far behind me. I think the story will have broad appeal to the young adult market and is a light, fast read.
