Claire Harper jogs after work every day in Mulberry Park. She runs to try to exercise away some of the grief she’s experienced ever since her son was run down on his bicycle while she watched. She doesn’t ever feel relief from her grief, until the day a letter falls from a tree to her. Claire feels compelled to answer this girl and give a young orphan a respite from grief.

Analisa wrote a letter to God and put it in the tallest tree in Mulberry Park. She knows this tree reaches to Heaven so God can get her letter. She hoped for a reply, but getting one was great.

Over the course of the story, the lives of nine strangers from the park become intertwined. It’s a miracle how one park and one letter to God, can make a difference in the world.

I loved this story from the first page to the last. I was swept into the lives of the characters and felt that I was one of the friends at Mulberry Park. This book is like a rose, each layer of petals reveals another beautiful layer. Sometimes the layers are hidden, but all are connected. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot, so I won’t give much synopsis of the story.

Mulberry Park reminded me that every person is special and each one of us has value. While it is labeled as an Inspirational book, I loved the fact that it wasn’t preachy. The inspiration comes from watching the characters grow closer to—or farther away from—God. I found Judy Duarte to be a gifted writer who brings such depth to the characters that they really resemble our neighbors or friends. It makes the story more personal and impacting. I laughed and cried with each character and found some of the twists in the story to be absolutely marvelous. A wonderful book that I think every person should take time to read.
