Alexia Garcia never really had a life filled with nice cars and new expensive things every week. She was quite poor. She had grown up in a small town in West-Virginia, never knowing who her father was. But throughout her whole life she has been told she looks like the famous pop-star Kira Kingsley. Which makes things quite difficult because Kira, isnít that smart. Kira is a beautiful girl but isnít the brightest lightbulb out there. So everyone seems to think Alexia isnít smart either. Which is the total opposite, she is bilingual, gets excellent grades. Something happens at school, something that embarrasses her to no end. It ends up getting posted to the internet, but then she gets offered a chance in a life time to move all the way to California as Kiraís stunt double. It takes some time for her to accept mainly because her mother wonít let her go.
On this stunt double job, she finds out that she had family that she never would expected, except she canít tell them who she is. One night, she falls for Grant Delray. But there is one problem he is falling for Kari, not Alexia. Alexia gets herself in a big mess, she just canít tangle herself out of.
Personally, this book doesnít relate to me much. Well, I have daydreamed about a celebrity heartthrob but most high schoolers do. But it was a great read. I really liked how I felt I could be in Alexiaís shoes. She went through a lot in just the span of a month. If didnít know who my father was, I would be determined my whole to life to find him. But thatís just in my personality, Alexia is a strong girl. But she has a breaking point. Every teenage girl has one, believe me. There came a point in my life, where I just wanna sit and figure my life out. The relationship between Kari and Alexia seems to grow into a friendship. Kari a big superstar and Alexia a small town girl, become friends. Eventually, they become something more than either of them really expected; sisters. Friendship between total opposites is something I have come across.
Alexia is a character most girls can relate to. The one thing that relates to me is her will power. I have will power, most of it is just me being stubborn. Itís strong and I hate giving up. Itís one thing I sometimes hate but it comes in handy in most situations.
I highly recommend this book to all girls my age. It was a great book. If you ever get a chance, pick up this book and give it a read. I also recommend all of Rallisonís books as well. Rallison is a great young adult writer. She seems to know how to perfectly write a teenage girlís lifestyle.
I really enjoyed reading My Double Life. I hope other readers will as well. It sent me into the world of expensive cars, nice clothes, and beautiful people.
