Dinah Greene is looking for peace. Her bad marriage ended with the death of her cheating husband. She has come to Sedona to find a new life. When she meets Jim Blackhawk at the Grand Canyon her life is destined to change forever.

Jim is interested in Dinah but only as a friend. He is not attracted the blonde woman. He is a Navajo and he is aware their worlds are very different. However he soon comes to realize that what he feels for Dinah is so much more.

Dinah, needing a place to live, moves in with Jim as a housemate. They soon settle into an easy arrangement of domesticity while Jim pursues his painting and Dinah is at peace cooking and being busy around the home – the first home she can be at peace in. But not everyone is happy with their living arrangement and determined to destroy their relationship.

Navajo Dreams is really a sweet, tender romance in the old fashioned sense. It’s also a peaceful gentle book where two people from entirely different worlds start out as friend and then become lovers. I found both the characters really likeable in their uncertainty towards each other. It’s a nice change from characters falling into bed with each other as soon as they meet. I like the responsibility Jim feels towards his heritage and how Dinah wants to be a part of his world.

I also enjoyed the look at glimpse of Navajo customs and culture. The fact that the author uses authentic Navajo language, to me, gives the story an important credibility. I like to read a book and believe it and this book provided that belief.

I found Navajo Dreams dragged slightly in parts but it did not detract from the story too much as I was impatient to find out what was happening between Dinah and Jim.

I really like this book as it’s a refreshing change. After reading it I thought ‘aw’. It’s a sweet romance that I am sure will appeal to many.
