Make room on the bookshelves, because this book is a keeper. I really enjoyed Nerd Gone
Wild. Having married a reformed nerd, I fell in love with our hero Mitchell (Mitch)
right away. Here’s a reformed nerd, who has to pose as the nerd he was, to protect heiress
Ally Jarrett from her only remaining relative. Stuck up in the backwoods of Porcupine,
Alaska, the flavor of the town and the eccentrics who live there was inspired. I fell in
love with the town and the people in it---maybe there’s a series of books for the loves
of the townspeople??
I must say that I typically don’t enjoy contemporary romance novels as much as historical ones. It seems that the characters in contemporary are larger than life and not quite real. Ms. Thompson has done an excellent job of creating characters that are totally "real" to the reader. In fact, most of the people in the book could be my neighbors—or perhaps my relatives.
Ms. Thompson has a wonderful sense of humor and I found myself laughing out loud at different things in the book. The comments made by the townspeople as well as the antics of our hero and heroine will have you giggling away. There are a few scenes that made me a little uncomfortable. They all involved Ally’s uncle and he’s a real loser anyway, so I skimmed them. Don’t want to spoil it for you, just be aware that these scenes were probably written to make you see the truth of his character. Overall, this book was good, clean, old-fashioned fun. I recommend getting a copy and enjoy the fun.
