Dear Readers:
Have I got a steamy, glorious book for you!
Voluptuous Caroline Torrington is one of those women (like most of us) who have many, many beautiful curves in a world full of tiny, slim beauties in strangling corsets. Men find her absolutely drop-dead stunning but all Caroline can see are the flaws that come along with real womanly beauty.
Speaking of men...we soon (in one of the most brilliant openings I have ever read) meet Lord Lucas Foxhaven. Although a rogue at first, we soon find out that the Lord has been best friends with Caroline since they were children. He has always loved her in the best of ways and has only recently "seen" those curves of hers. He finds that he suddenly needs to warn himself in her presence – to always show her the respect that he carries in his heart for her. He won’t allow himself to use her as he has done with so many women in his lifetime. But he does require her assistance for the next step in a very grand plan that he’s been concocting for many years.
Asking Caroline for her hand in marriage, they soon begin an association of convenience. She gets what she needs out of the marriage and is taken to London to be introduced into the "best" of society. Lord Lucas Foxhaven gets…no, no…it’s too good to give away.
There are so many twists and turns in this novel that I was truly enthralled: Many times a romance in this type of historical setting is extremely formulaic – a "bodice-ripper" if you will. But the author of this magnificent story successfully interspersed the steam-heat with back stories, incredible characters and real, heart-felt emotion. And if you don’t find yourself wishing that you could hop into the pages as Lord Foxhaven’s stallion interrupts a gala at a historic manor – then you truly have no pulse beating in your body.
Read and Enjoy. This one’s a keeper!
