She has her hands full, thank you very much. If she only has to stroke Jack’s ego (her transgender ex, now known as Jackie) and referee a few arguments between the seniors from Iowa (whom she’s escorting on their tour of Scandinavia), and the seniors from Florida, she’ll be happy. Emily Andrew’s track record with these tours isn’t that great when it comes to not finding dead bodies.

Turns out someone isn’t too concerned about Emily’s track record. They go ahead and leave a dead body that, of course, she finds. True, the geriatric tourist was mean and crotchety to say the least, but what possible reason would someone have for murder? Suspicion falls on Jackie as the victim had verbally and publicly trashed Jackie’s new romance novel. When another from the tour group practically trips Emily up in their corpse-like state, the winds shift. What is the connection? Is there one at all?

If that isn’t trouble enough, her mother calls to tell her the wedding of her dreams has taken on a new twist. Thousands of miles from home, Emily is getting the lowdown on her new wedding plans, thanks to her mother’s ingenuity. Does anyone have any antacids? Uff-da!

Unfortunately, there’s little she can do about her upcoming nuptials at the moment, so Emily turns her energy on investigating. With the help of Jackie, Nana, George, and Tilley they do some sleuthing and speculating. All low key, of course (Ha!) And with her mother and Etienne doing some cyber digging, someone’s bound to find the key to the puzzle. Hopefully before the tour is over and the killer gets away…or before someone else is phfftt, a goner.

I really enjoyed my trip to Scandinavia with Emily and the gang. Once I got past the swift but slightly confusing introduction of the Floridian characters the sailing was smooth. They soon took on a life of their own and became easily recognizable amid the forays and sparring matches between the seniors.

Ms. Hunter has a seemingly natural way of stitching together the elements needed for an excellent story. Lively and offbeat supporting characters, a harried and frustrated Emily, and guffaw-like gut-busting humor wrap around the clues and suspense with ease. The way Ms. Hunter writes, well it all goes together like cake and ice cream, salsa and chips...

Norway to Hide is a fast paced, page-turning, highly entertaining mystery. Long live the Passport to Peril series!
