Special Agent Bill Stroyer has been assigned to protect Jillian Brandt in a government safe house in Miami. She is an important witness about to testify in an explosive court case. There is a million dollar bounty on her head. He is only too aware of that. He plans to kill her even as he pretends to protect her.

The photos that professional photographer Jillian shot got her mixed up in something that was dangerous and life threatening. She is knows she is a target. The last witness was killed for what they knew. When she hears the Agent assigned to protect her plotting her downfall, Jillian makes a desperate dash from the so called safety of the safe house to the unknown of the streets. Nursing a bullet wound inflicted by the agent during her escape, Jillian runs to the one place she knows she will be safe. She only hopes the man she runs to will not turn her away.

Two years previously, Trey Langden wanted to marry Jillian Brandt. She was the woman for him. But jealously, pride and possessiveness vied with the need for independence and trust and it tore the two lovers apart. Trey never expected to see Jillian again. He had tried to forget her and move on with his life on his ranch. When Jillian calls him for help, despite his reluctance to stir up old, painful memories, Trey goes to her aid.

Once back on his ranch in New Mexico, Jillian and Trey settle into a familiar routine of being together. Even though they both face the fear and uncertainty regarding the other’s true feelings, the flames of their old love are rekindled. However, there is trouble in paradise. Trey and his brother Cade soon find out that the safety of the ranch has been compromised and that Jillian is again under threat. The only way the threat can be eliminated is by her testifying in court. But does she have the courage to?

I really got caught up in the action packed start of this book. It was exciting and fast moving. I was a little disappointed that the action slowly died. Whilst I understand why – the rekindling of the past love affair - I would have like some more action. I also have to admit I found the character of Jillian rather annoyingly needy. Sure, she got shot and people were chasing her, but I am not sure I would have been as patient with her if she had turned up on my door step. However, despite Jillian having the usual human character flaws we all have, I still wanted to read on and find out if she managed to get her life together with Trey. Trey, I liked. He was strong, possessive and sure of himself. Sort of like the typical cowboy wearing the good guy white hat. I am hoping that Becky Barker has a spin off story with his brother Cade and her secretary Sallie.

On Wings of Love is a story about who gives you wings. Who allows you to fly to whatever heights you need to to feel fulfilled, and will they be there for you when you come back to earth.
