Once in A Blue Moon is a book about wishes, reality, and wanting, and what you face when all these things come together at the most imperfect time. Lindsay is a moderately successful businesswoman who appears to have it all, yet at the center of her soul is a longing for her little sister, who she was torn apart from at a very young age. Lindsay overcame the rough start to her life, thanks to the love of her adopted family, she is centered in who she is and her beliefs about the world. At 35, she appears to have it all; a home, a loving successful boyfriend, a business, and supportive family around her. Enter chaos! Chaos comes in the form of her long lost sister, Kerry, and an evil developer intent on stealing her home, and some delicious romantic complications.

Kerry is as different from Lindsay as night is from day, she's a high school drop out with a daughter whom the court has taken away from her, and is battling her addictions to drugs and alcohol. When she shows up on Lindsay's door, it’s a battle. A battle between the memory of the baby that Lindsay remembers and the women standing in front of her, a battle for them to form a relationship, and a battle for them to save themselves.

Once in A Blue Moon is a poignant story about ties that bind, and what can divide us. It's thoughtfully written with deep emotions, stark realities, and a little romance thrown in. It's a story with one of my favorite components, rich, realistic characters. Sometimes I find myself thinking about them, long after I read the book. It’s a great book about good vs. evil and a true mix of reality and artistic freedom. I completely enjoyed this book, and think you will too.
