Fool’s Gold has somewhat of a shortage of men. That having made the headlines has brought a reality show to town; True Love or Fool’s Gold. Reluctantly Dakota Hendrix is overseeing the competition, only as a favor to the mayor. She has a PhD! She can make people call her Dr.! But she doesn’t. Fool’s Goldites help their own and take care of each other.
Finn Andersson is furious. His younger twin brothers have left college in their last semester to hopefully appear on an absurd reality show. He left his business in Alaska to kidnap, whoop on, whatever it takes to get them to do what he thinks they should do. He can’t get through to them how stupid they’re being and he can’t get beautiful, smart, and sexy Dakota to help him get his brothers off the show.
Dakota and Finn are drawn to each other for more reasons than simple attraction. They are both calming and stabilizing influences on each other. They are both involved with the ridiculous TV show. They are physically, sizzling attracted to each other.
Things begin to change even though Finn continues to bang his head against a wall concerning his brothers. He begins to think of a life outside Salmon, Alaska. Dakota has had some shadows in her life recently. She never would have thought a reality show would brighten her life or a new man in her life. But shadows have a way of returning…
Along with the romance between Dakota and Finn, I enjoyed the secondary characters, their stories, and the added layers they brought to the story. Denise (Dakota’s mom) was especially fun.
Susan Mallery’s books always have a perfect blend of fun and wit with romance and emotion. A suggestion; if you can’t live in Fool’s Gold, at least visit…
