Tess Hennessy was an independent young woman who had great ambitions to become a famous photographer. But until she could save enough money to go to New York and show her work, she was stuck in Texas with nothing to photograph but the valley she loved and the people in it.
Sandoval Parrish was a scoundrel known to have ridden with the outlaw Delgado. But all is not as it seems, as Ranger Parrish has a plan to bring Delgado down. All he has to do is kidnap the feisty red-headed photographer so she can capture Delgado’s picture in order to plaster it all across the valley. Revenge has been a long time in coming and it’s so close he can taste it. Years ago Delgado had taken Sandoval’s sister but now he will avenge his sister with the law and bring Delgado down.
Tess couldn’t believe what’s happened – they’ve captured her photography wagon and brought her to Delgado’s hideout. As Tess soon finds, Delgado’s ego is great and enjoys the many photographs she has taken. Tess also can’t believe the rascal Sandoval is behind this ruse. What is he up to and why is she involved? Soon her feelings change for Sandoval and Tess begins to see that though the circumstances are dire, God may have a plan in all of this.
Will Sandoval be able to trust Tess enough to tell her the truth? Can Tess show Sandoval that her faith and trust in God will lead them in the right path? Will Tess convince Sandoval that God has always loved him and always will?
The Outlaw’s Lady is a strong, yet tender story. The characters are strong and though Tess is written with independence, she is depicted as God-fearing and courageous to stand up for what she believes. Sandoval, though tough as a Ranger has to be, has a gentle side that will make you sigh. And through it all the story has a subtle message that God loves his children and you will see His love through your faith and dependence on Him.
The Outlaw’s Lady is an action-packed story that will inspire as well as entertain. Laurie Kingery has a way of writing that will keep you glued to the pages wanting to see what will happen next. As in Laurie’s previous historical inspirational, The Outlaw’s Lady has been a pleasure to read.
