This book was OUTSTANDING. I have never finished a book quite so fast and laughed quite so much. I did spend some time reading passages to my family so we could all have a good time.
I have really got to tell you a little of the beginning (Chapter One). "If old man Pendersnack hadn't gotten his lure all tangled up in Moira's hair, we'd still be guessing what became of her. As it was, ol' Snack's peaceful day of fishing turned out badly and not just because he'd dredged up the trout-nibbled body of the late Mrs. Finch. Sadly, during his efforts to knock Moira free, he lost one darn-good lure."
These were the first lines in this book and it only got better. May Bell List, a wannabe detective has reappeared in her fourth book of this mystery series to solve two murders in this hilarious tale. As before, she gathers up some of her fellow citizens to help her in finding clues to assist the Police Department in the investigation of Moira's death. When she hears about the fisherman's find in the lake, via a scanner in her home, she rushes out to the crime scene and finds that the corpse is Moira Finch, a member of the local country club. The murder weapon is a custom made tool made from a golf club used by the grounds crew at the club. May proceeds to go undercover at the country club to find out information as to who might have jerry-rigged the golf club.
This amateur detective is wonderful. With the help of her friend at the Police Department and her husband, who is a doctor. Along with her new friends at her new job she ferrets out the culprit, while scuba diving to find the victim's car and being shot at. She also shoots out the tires on an RV that the perpetrator is trying to escape in.
May is a wonderful detective and I can't wait to see the next volume in this series. I've never read so fast nor laughed so much in all my reading days. So, enjoy and I'll talk to you soon.
