Jared Bennet is the Refarian King, exiled to Earth while he and his people struggle to keep earth from being overtaken by the Antousians and try to reclaim their own planet. As the last survivor in his royal line, he is constantly bombarded by the Council to mate and create an heir to the throne. However, nobody has ever touched his soul in a way that makes mating desirable.

Kelsey Wells is a geologist who has always been drawn to Mirror Lake at Yellowstone. While studying unusual rock samples, she runs into Jared when he is critically injured. She realizes he is an alien, but can’t deny her total attraction to the man. When he disappears before her eyes, she wonders if she will ever see this man again.

Little do Jared & Kelsey know that they have met one time before. The memories were erased from them to protect the king. Perhaps this is why both of them have trouble settling down. As they reconnect, will they remember their meeting as teenagers? Will Kelsey ever be able to accept all that Jared is and isn’t? Will she ever forgive Jared for his deceptions? Most of all, as they learn more about the ancient mitres left here on Earth, will they be able to see the future enough to change the stream of time?

Ms. Knight is coming onto the paranormal scene with guns blazing. Be sure to watch out for this up and coming author. I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and had trouble putting the book down. I can honestly say I was sad to see the book come to an end and can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out.

I will let you know that you need to be ready for the time stream theory. That is the only thing that I have trouble with. Ms. Knight did such a great job of explaining how this works that I felt like I grasped the theory. We see many streams of time and scenes from across a lifetime at one point. The question is, can any of us truly alter our futures with our decisions? I believe this theme will continue to evolve in the upcoming books of the series.

Ms. Knight has a sense of how to craft a story that appears so factual as it takes off into fictional (and paranormal). And while some aliens aren’t all that attractive, isn’t it nice to find a species who is?!? After all, these men are tall, dark, handsome and great lovers---what’s not to like about the Rafarians??

While I hesitate to compare authors side-by-side, I will say that this is the first paranormal I’ve read since reading Susan Kearney’s series that has really stayed with me after I’m done with the book. I think Ms. Knight has a different style, but the ability to tell a story with alien worlds and have that make sense to the reader is a gift that both authors possess. I think Ms. Knight has a bright future before her. After reading Parallel Attraction, be on the lookout for book #2, Parallel Heat which will be released in October.
