Noelani Beecham is at a crossroads in her life. She needs to find a new place to live and work. When Dante Kahoa shows up on her doorstep with a solution to her problems, she still finds herself resisting. How can she go back to the place of her biggest nightmare and live with the man who was her first crush? Dante is persistent because their jointly inherited Hawaiian flower farm depends on them working together. If he can’t convince her to help, he may lose the farm.

Lani and Dante talk through the event that split them apart and Lani starts to work through the guilt of that day from long ago. She finally agrees to go to Lehua, Hawaii, to help Dante out. Upon her return, she and Dante find out that a trio of egg-sized gems—Pele’s Tears—is not really a family myth. The gems exist. Somebody else knows about Pele’s Tears and will use any means necessary to get them back. As Lani and Dante try to rebuild the business, they are also looking for the gems and trying to stay one step ahead of a potential killer in their midst.

Sharon K. Garner writes a wonderful romantic suspense. The beauty of Hawaii shines through her words and descriptions. I felt transported to Hawaii and became totally engrossed in Lani and Dante’s work and struggles. I fell in love with both of them as they worked through the guilt of the event that happened so long ago. They are both so strong—yet so fragile. The dichotomy within each of them makes them more endearing as we read and learn more about them.

I loved the way Sharon Garner worked the legends and folklore of Hawaii into the story. She created a beautiful vision of Hawaii, the natives and the traditions. As the suspense builds, she continued to weave the past and present of Hawaii into the story and gifts us with a page-turning story. It’s one that will captivate readers for both the romance and the mystery of it all.
