Amy Winslow has had enough. She hits the road to visit her brother Brian and to start a new life in California. Her cheating boyfriend has pushed her too far and she has finally decided to leave him. The people who know Amy are pleased. They never liked Drew anyway. However there is a problem. Amy is pregnant with his cheating ex’s child and she has developed a sudden attraction to another man.

Case McKenna is burnt out. He is saddened by a tragic death and he too hits the road looking for something more in his life. At the lighthouse at Point Surrender strange memories and weird visions come to him. Is Point Surrender a random choice or has he been here before? When he helps save the life of Amy’s brother, the past starts to come back to him. He also starts to fall in love with Amy Winslow. Problem is Case isn’t sure what attachment Amy has to the men that are in her life. Is there a place for him?

Amy is fascinated by the history of the old lighthouse that her brother has chosen to buy and renovate. She can almost see and touch the secrets and ghosts of the past. What connection does Case have to them and why she so drawn to him? And what of Captain Morgan Hastings and his true love Jacelyn? How does the ghosts of the past impact on the lives of the future?

Amy is a character is interesting as I instantly wondered what I would do if I was caught up in her situation. That she left her cheating ex is completely understandable. That she is pregnant is a nightmare for any woman in that situation. I like the relationship with Amy and Case. It was slow and sweet and awkward. They are two people who are not sure of themselves let along the person they are attracted to. There were times when I almost doubted they would get together. The villain of the piece, Drew, is a pompous twit and I always like a character you can hate.

There are so many twists and turns and secrets in Point Surrender. I liked the fact that I wasn’t sure exactly where this story would go at times. Maybe I was a tad disappointed that it did not go where I thought it would but that has more to do with me that the book itself. I think a book is good when a it has so many layers that the reader can start to visualize more than one plot. I would like to so see the story of Captain Morgan and Jacelyn written. Maybe that’s in the works.

I enjoyed Point Surrender as it is one of the books that nothing is quite what it seems. In a lot of ways, it is very similar to real life.
