Jillian Hart has settled in Mercy, South Carolina quite well. Her best friend here is Deputy Candace Carson. Jillian who has three cats, Chablis, Syrah and Merlot has her hands full with her three cats, a missing milk cow, her quilting business and the dead body of a professor. In addition Jillian also has to deal with the arrival of her stepdaughter Kara.
The Cat, The Professor and the Poison shows the fun relationship between Jillian and Candace and delves more into their friendship. Jillianís cats help her solve not only one murder but also two, and cats are rampant everywhere in this novel. The repartee between Jillian and Candace is smooth and easy and makes for some amusing scenes, and character development. Part of the mystery involves whether or not animal rights activists are responsible for the murder of the professor. What is the relationship between all the stray cats and the murder of a professor?
The Cat, The Professor and the Poison is a fun and entertaining book and while it was not my favorite, it is sure to please all of those who are fans of cozy mysteries involving cats. It was an easy and quick read and the characters are interesting and relate well to each other.
