Dear Readers:

If you have been following this series - the Maine Shore Chronicles - then you already know what true ‘characters’ live up in that area of the world.

In this new title, readers spend a bit of time at Francois’s Fancy - a restaurant in town owned by Jacques Fontaine. At this moment in time, Paul Fontaine - Jacques’ son - is recuperating at his father’s house after being shot in the hip during an art gallery break-in. Paul’s mind is definitely focused on trying to figure out what exactly just happened. Why a woman by the name of Suzanne Petrone - who he was having a ‘relationship’ with - disappeared to Florida right after leaving a valuable painting in Paul’s possession to hand in the gallery.

Tante Margaret is another character in this lovely Maine world. Margaret lost her fisherman husband to the sea, and is spending her time taking care of Jacques. Jacques, unfortunately, is having health issues and Tante Margaret is helping him all she can. She is also the ‘perfect ear’ for Paul to confide all his problems to, seeing as that Tante Margaret is a clairvoyant, and can actually offer information on the missing painting and the people behind the heist.

The missing painting suddenly appears in a gallery in Sarasota, and Paul is on his way. Working with a private investigator and dealing with the FBI - who seem to be on a whole other wavelength about the crime - Paul has to track down Suzanne, find out what the heist was all about, and uncover the clues that will lead him directly into an even greater mess than he was already in.

Tante Margaret will be everyone’s favorite character in this title. She is funny, kind, and completely intuitive - a perfect ‘Grandma’ figure for everyone to love. The mystery is solid but, Tante Margaret is really the one who shines and, most likely, the only one you’ll remember.

Until next time, Amy
