Former beauty queen, Delaney Davis Daniels has been alone, separated for two long years, and is in the process of a messy divorce. In fact the divorce is finally in the end stages, fingers crossed. But her friend, Macy, and sister, Phoebe, think she’s been alone too long. That she "needs" a man.

Reluctantly Laney finds herself at a gentleman’s club with circumstances leading her to ultimately find that man and a one-night (hour) stand. Something that is so unlike her.

To her horror said man is her husband’s new, third, divorce attorney, Lucas Church. But the attraction, no matter the consequences, no matter the denial, is hard for them to resist. And the fact that her settlement is unacceptable causing dissension between her, her husband, J.D., and Lucas, is just one of the speed bumps they encounter as they become closer. In more ways than one.

Lucas has never felt such a connection with any woman before. He’s never had any desire to be tied to one woman for more than a night at a time. Against his better judgment, Delaney seems to captivate him. Until she’s a suspect in her husband’s murder. Then the questions come faster than the answers, as does the doubt.

Laney is in for the fight of her life. Not only does the evidence look bad, she comes across some mighty fishy documents that don’t add up. What hurts the most, though, is Lucas doesn’t seem to fully believe she didn’t pull the trigger. With or without him, despite the potential danger she continues to find herself in, she’s got to get to the bottom of it all.

At first, I wasn’t sure I wanted to read Remember the Alimony. In the beginning there’s fairly graphic (to the conservative reader) sex scenes with direct language, which made me wonder where the book was headed and did I want to continue. But then came the budding romance, which grew in substance, followed by the murder mystery and the story coming together with a shock of a finish.

"Raciness" aside, Bethany True wrote sympathetic yet strong characters in Delaney and Lucas. The villain and secondary characters are vivid yet don’t overshadow them or the story. She paints a good picture by intermingling description with dialogue and character’s idiosyncrasies.

Remember the Alimony is laced with emotion and wit, and has twists at every turn. It came to the point where I couldn’t put the book down. I hope we’ll be seeing more of these mystery romances from Ms. True.
