Lady Katherine Charlton isn’t living the life she wanted. Growing up, the stable boy made her heart race but he lived with fighting. He felt like the whole world was against him and fought against it – fought everyone and everything. Her family did not see him as someone they wanted in the family. Therefore, she settled and became Lady Charlton.
The time came, though, that her husband has passed away. In the process of going through and settling his affairs, she is stunned to learn many things about the man she had married, including that their finances are not good.
A polished blast from the past arrives in the form of the stable boy grown up. He is coming back with his own agenda but they both end up surprised by the outcome.
The Return of the Stranger is a modern day Wuthering Heights but done with a fresh twist. While Kate Walker has used a base similar to the classic, she has created new characters and scenery that keep the reader turning the pages. Granted it helps to be a bit of a historical buff so you understand the "Lord" system, but all true love story enthusiasts will enjoy this trip through memory lane.
