Subterfuge and false pretenses are definitely not the best way to begin a relationship, but to be honest thatís not why Melissa Warner finagled her way onto the Ryder family ranch. Sheís there undercover to get a story. Perhaps the story of her career to date.
Jared Ryder is rich. Beyond rich and thatís basically all anyone knows about him or his family. Heíd like to keep it that way. Just because he and his brother have their fingers in many business pots around the world doesnít mean his life is open for speculation. Especially now, with a family secret needing to be kept a secret.
Thereís something about Melissa that Jared canít put a finger on, something not quite right, but he canít deny the attraction that builds. He begins to trust her and confide in her. He even envisions spending more time with her.
Heís not quite the ruthless business man that Melissa envisioned and is getting to know and admire. Her emotions are getting involved. She needs to keep her eye on the article and not her emotions.
So what happens when hearts are on the line and Melissaís deception is revealed?
To be honest, in the beginning Melissa was just a bit too tenacious and deceptive for my reading tastes. However, in all fairness, her intelligence and subsequent open-mindedness joined with her sharp wit balanced out her character as a whole making her likable. Jared is the alpha-male who enjoys and protects his privacy. Combined with that he has plenty of heart and compassion. Quite the hero.
No matter what your Desire reading tastes are, thereís always one thing you can count on. Ms. Dunlop pens a good, enjoyable story for the reader. She creates a variety of emotions and scenarios that will entice the reader and keep them coming back for more of her stories.
