Lilly is a talented young musician who performs and writes worship music for her church. Her boyfriend, Greg, is the youth pastor and her life appears to be going well. Appears is the operative word because she is hiding some pretty big secrets about her past. Secrets she hasn’t shared with Greg, her roommate, or her friends at church. Secrets she doesn’t even like to think about herself.

However, as we all know, secrets have a way of coming back to haunt us. Lilly begins getting emails about those secrets. She gets trapped in the basement at church and strange flyers on her vehicle start showing up. Just too many things start happening that them being coincidences is not an option. She is afraid a man from her past is coming back but he is supposed to be dead. Her mind just can’t wrap around what is happening.

I don’t want to give away too much of the plotline away so I will stop there. I have to say that Linda Hall has created a great plotline with Shadows at the Window. She builds the tension really well and has some great twists in how Lilly’s secrets are revealed. Lilly is a scarred Christian just as many of us are. She struggles with mistakes from her past and the emotions of allowing herself to vulnerable to the people she loves. I found her characters to be very believable and definitely ones that the reader can relate to.

The only thing I struggled with is that this manuscript is written in first person and there were just a couple of times that I had to re-read a section to know exactly what the author was telling me. Not a bad thing but just something to be ready for. All in all, Linda Hall has proven she can think of creative plots.
