Sean MacNeil is an agent for the FBI who has an interesting problem on his hands. His wife is regaining her memory but is afraid on him on his first visit after she is no longer catatonic. Not a good response. He wants to help her but there are others that fight that desire especially his wife Mary (or in reality Annie).

You see in reality she isn’t his wife except on paper. The FBI prepared that marriage in order to protect Annie from those who wanted to steal her work. Annie is incredibly intelligent and has been spending her time working on a vaccine for a virulent disease. Unfortunately, what Annie doesn’t realize is that the vaccine has a greater value than she believes.

There are those who want to release the disease and then make a million on the vaccine which will miraculously appear. Sean MacNeil had been assigned as her bodyguard as she started to get close to finalizing her vaccine. On the night Annie discovers she loves Sean and he "says" he can’t’ love her and she discovers some of the plot to get her vaccine, Annie runs. Since Annie has never learned to drive, she crashes which is where the head injury came from that led to her catatonic state.

Now that she is coming out and those who want the vaccine are aware of it, Sean knows he has to step in in spite of Annie’s fears and they go on the run.

I want to be very careful how I proceed with the overview of Silent Memories so I don’t give anything away. At times it can be really difficult when reviewing a suspenseful manuscript because there are so many great twists and turns you want to talk about but to do so would give away some clue.

My heart goes out to Annie. I can’t imagine being in a situation where my memories are wiped clean and I have no clue who I am or who I can trust. Even finding out that the man I had been told was my husband wasn’t my husband. Annie even had to deal with some frightening flashes of memory where he is concerned but her body is giving her a much different reaction.

At the same time I feel for Sean. While Sean has his memory he is fighting his own demons. He has tried so hard to shut down all of his emotions which is part of why he wanted to become a "hardened" FBI agent. However, he is finding all of his beliefs threatened by this incredibly intelligent nerd who wormed her way into his heart.
