Thanks to her sister, she will now be mentoring an intern, Isobel. You see, Madeira (Maddie) Cutler owns Vintage Magic, a vintage clothing store. She also designs fashion/couture. And she loves it. What she’s not too sure of is the visions she gets when she touches/dons certain articles of vintage designs she acquires. It takes a lot out of her. And usually involves something on the nefarious side.
Though she really wasn’t overjoyed at the prospect of having an intern (but she was a bit excited to see what vintage gold Isobel had sent ahead in a trunk), Maddie certainly didn’t wish her dead by suspicious circumstances! Um, there’s more going on here than a death by natural or un-natural causes as Isobel shows up on Maddie’s doorstep after she’s been pronounced dead. And so the mystery begins…
Between struggling through the emotions roiling inside her created by the two men vying for her affections (both of whom are in law enforcement), planning her sister’s fundraiser, and mentoring Isobel, she is now waist deep in the investigations…theorizing, questioning, wading through the visions that don’t seem to pertain to the case.
There are too many variables that aren’t fitting. Mentally she’s running in circles. She needs to focus. Trust her visions to give her the answers and enable her to put the pieces together. And in the midst of it all, she needs to choose between two men. Oh yeah. And look good while doing it.
Not to mention staying out of harm’s way.
I love Maddie. Her attitude is infections, full of life, love, compassion, and a zeal for justice. Her friends and family complement her personality. Nick and Werner keep her on her proverbial toes. Eve is fun and a breath of fresh air.
That only two people (Eve (BFF) and Nick) know about her visions…well, I think Werner would understand and be able to handle it if she gave him a chance...
This series is one of my favorites. It has a perfect blend of mystery, romance, vivacity, and the right touch of the paranormal. Keep them coming Ms. Blair!
