Sarah Claire is armed with hot irons and shears, and is going to do whatever it takes to work in an exclusive Beverly Hills salon; even if it means sweeping hair, emptying garbage and making lattes for the stars.

Now Sarah, a good Christian girl from Wyoming, has to lie and say she’s a New York up-and-comer, to complete the new identity that her cousin, Scott, says she HAS to have in order to survive the jungles of Beverly Hills. After all, no one wants their hair cut by a small town Wyoming cowgirl.

Sarah lives with the images and scars from her past. Her mother, had her out of wedlock and never stated who the father was. They live in a small town where it could be practically anybody. In addition, her mother is an alcoholic. With the constant drinking and running off with "bad" men, her mother successfully labeled her daughter, Sarah, "white trash". Sarah has survived the barbs and taunts thrown at her all her life and people telling her that she’ll never be any good because of her trashy mother, with grace. In order to escape her past and better her life, she has turned to the luxury of Beverly Hills: New identity – new background – new style. But can a hairdresser from the sticks, with that much baggage, really make it in image obsessed L.A.? Can she find true love and live a real life in a town built for fakes?

It’s hard to ever say a book is perfect – but this sure comes close to it. You feel for Sarah Claire from the moment you read the first page. You cheer her on when she stands up for herself against the plastic skinned, Barbie-doll Hollywood elite (plastic skin compliments of $500 skin peels that are all the rage.)

And, most of all, when this girl who dreams of 1940’s Hollywood heroes, runs smack dab into the fedora-wearing, charming roommate of her cousin, you want to clap your hands for her. This is an emotional, funny story that shows true love can happen, and anyone can rise above their past. Enjoy Sarah Claire and enjoy the writer’s wit and charm as she shows people how to overcome the skeletons in their closet and become a star!
